"All the way through his schooling at Stoke Gabriel Primary my son has been nurtured, supported, encouraged and celebrated for his efforts. The consistency of this amazingly high level of teaching hasn't changed or dropped despite the staff changes that are inevitable in the schooling system today. As a parent I couldn't be more grateful to the School and the Academy for the amazing Primary School experience we have been fortunate enough to have had."

Welcome to Spiders Class

Spiders Class is the home to the oldest children in our school – Years 5 and 6.

As role models for younger children, Spiders take their whole school responsibilities seriously: they are expected to model excellent behaviour, to have a positive attitude towards school and learning, and to take pride in their work at all times. Learning in Spiders is engaging and challenging. Spiders children are exposed to a variety of teaching styles which ensure all children are excited and enthused in their learning, and make the maximum possible progress, while also developing independence. Mrs Lewsey teaches Spiders on a Monday and Tuesday and is assisted by Mr Smith. On a Wednesday – Friday, Mrs Letten teaches the class and is assisted by Mr Smith.

PE lessons are every Tuesday with Mrs Lewsey and Friday mornings with our PE Coach, Mr Tanner. Please ensure that PE kit is worn to school on these days.

Homework is designed to encourage independence. Our expectations are as follows: - Reading on a daily basis (minimum of 20 minutes per day) - Spellings , daily practice - Times Tables practice - this should include at least 15 x 1 minute sessions on TT Rock Stars (children all have their unique user ID and password which can be used to access from home) - Project learning themed around our termly themes where the children will be able to choose from a range of activities designed to take their learning beyond the classroom. This opportunity for individual enquiry is designed to encourage them to pursue areas that interest them which they can feed into the learning of the class.
