Welcome to Butterflies Class
Welcome to our class page! Mrs Ansermoz teaches Monday to Wednesday morning and Ms Middlebrook teaches Wednesday afternoon- Friday. Miss Giffard supports the learning in class.
We love to work as a team and love to challenge ourselves to be curious. We try our best and have a positive attitude. We take care of each other and make sure our class is a great place to be.

PE
PE lessons are on a Friday with Ms Middlebrook and on a Thursday with our PE teacher, Mr Tanner. Please ensure that PE kit is worn to school on these days.
Homework
Please refer to the Medium Term Plan (below) which outlines our class learning and the homework expected. This is updated half-termly.
Children are expected to read daily at home, this may be independently or to an adult.
Key Stage 2 children should aim to read for a minimum of around 20 minutes each day.
Children will need to practise their spellings (please see the Butterflies' spellings list in the link below). Spellings are set each Friday and tested on the following Friday. Please support your child to practice these.
Multiplication knowledge is essential for pupils to accelerate their mathematics learning; we therefore ask that parents support their children to practice their times tables at every opportunity. Children have their own log-in details for 'Times Tables Rock Stars' and there are more ideas for practising spellings further down on this page.
Phonics Bug reading scheme
For children who are currently on our Phonics Bug reading scheme, it is really important to practice reading every day to become confident with segmenting, blending and to increase our fluency. We ask children to read their Phonics Bug books at least twice before being changed for a new one.
Accelerated Reader
We use the Accelerated Reader program to monitor children's independent reading once they have completed our phonics programme.
Accelerated Reader is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children's independent reading and comprehension. Your child selects and reads a book at their pace. When they have finished, the children take a short quiz to assess their reading and comprehension skills.
Children will have opportunities each week to select an AR book from our school library. They will be encouraged to take their books home to read. Once they have finished a book, they will quiz (at home or at school). After they have quizzed, they can choose another book.
If you're unsure whether a book from home is on Accelerated Reader then please visit the AR Book-finder site below to search for yourself. It is not just books from our school library that are available for quizzing!
Below is a link to the Accelerated Reader website specifically for our school. Your children know their logins, but please contact the class teacher if there is an issue.
